Soundcharts Debuts Mentions Lab, a Real-Time Media Monitoring Tool

Soundcharts, one of the world’s leading music analytics platforms, has announced its biggest product update since launching in 2016. A new feature called Mentions is now available for music industry professionals, which allows for global media and web monitoring of artists. Mentions will help to spot local promotional opportunities, identify niche genre publications, and influence marketing strategies accordingly.

The new feature has been designed to better equip music industry professionals; everyone from artist managers, A&Rs, agents, PRs and labels, through to artists themselves, with a cost-effective tool which brings all vital insights into one platform – saving both time and money.

Not only that, but given everything is updated in real-time, users can be quick to react to moments which can positively impact an artist campaign. If, for instance, you want to know where in the world to focus marketing – this game-changing update will provide the intel you need and can ultimately help grow a musician’s fanbase.

Mentions works by tracking the entire internet and splits the results into three categories: music media, verified media and unverified sources. The data search results can then be segmented further into sub-categories such as origin (country), domain rank (based on website traffic) and source type (news, blog, discussion). All this is done in real-time.

David Weiszfeld, Founder & CEO of Soundcharts commented: “Soundcharts was created to be the ultimate source of truth of the industry, making all the music data actionable in a unified platform. Most music professionals are still using a dedicated, usually local-based, media tracking solution. By adding this vertical to Soundcharts, we are allowing them to save money by monitoring these mentions within the same platform they use everyday for the rest of their data journey. The addition of Mentions is fully aligned with our mission.”

After a few weeks of testing, this new integration launches today for everyone and further insights will be released in the coming weeks. Soundcharts is the one-stop shop for music industry professionals to access all relevant data which offers profound insights that can positively impact an artist’s campaign strategy and support talent discovery.

Jeff loves music. He also loves band t-shirts, which has become something of an obsession. There's a vintage Roxy Music t-shirt on eBay for $299 he is absolutely going to get when he starts making the big bucks.
